Hazel Espresso is a cosy café tucked into 9 Davenport Street, Southport. It’s a gem if you love Vietnamese-style coffee. They do a lovely job fusing Vietnamese and modern café flavours; their coffee and bánh mì are standouts, and the friendly, relaxed service makes it a great spot whether you’re after a quick takeaway or a lingering brunch. We’ve had to ration ourselves to not go there every weekend as it’s so good!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hazel Express, you’ve done it again — and my tastebuds are sending thank-you notes. The Bò Né Flaming Beef came out sizzling like it was auditioning for a cooking TV show. Tasty, juicy, and absolutely show-off delicious. The Truffle Mushroom Hash? Huge portion. So big I started questioning my life choices… then kept eating anyway. Zero regrets. I’ll be back so fast they might think I forgot my wallet. 😄

Nice fusion Vietnamese cafe. Salted iced coffee was really for me. A bit different salted cheese creamed coffee. Very crispy soy sauce chicken on buttered bread was awesome. Friendly staffs.
Honey soy stacker and Bo Ne Flaming Beef? Obsessed. Prawn Linguine Pasta? My partner can’t get enough. Only wish they didn’t serve dine-in iced drinks in takeaway cups, feels off but Perfect breakfast date spot with cozy vibes and amazing food. Always a treat.
Love this place that we need to go back for consecutive 2 days! The food were nice and good portion. If you have a big group, better to make reservation like we did as the seatings are limited.

I went for a brunch with my brother and we were both blown away by the incredible quality of the food. Good value for the taste and portions of what you’re getting. If I didn’t live in Newcastle, I’d be coming here every week for sure. It was so hard to decide what to order as every thing on their menu looked so appealing. I got the big breakie and the caphe coconut crush. They were both so heavenly. I’d highly recommend this cafe to everyone. And the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Best cafe experience ever.
What a fabulous find! I love brunch but particularly if the food is a little different from the norm. And this place certainly had it. I had the Bo Ne Flaming Beef which was so tasty my mouth still waters when I think about it and the Hanoi egg coffee (sounded weird but tasted great - worth a try). My cuzzy had the honey soy stacker and a Vietnamese coffee which she said was great and our friend had the truffle mushroom hash and matcha coco crush. Both a hit as well. I’m keen to go back as soon as I’m back in the GC. Great service, cool vibe, simple and small and reminded me of Wellington cafes. 👌🏽

It is the kind of low key café that feels comfortable to sit and relax in 🔷 Food 🔺 Hot Matcha Latte (7)🍵 The matcha flavour is very rich and you can tell the matcha powder they use is good quality The drink also comes with a small cookie 🧸this small detail feels very thoughtful and definitely adds to the overall experience 🔺 Truffle Mushroom Hash (24) This dish is highly recommended. It includes truffle mushrooms, scrambled eggs, cheese and pickled cabbage, and the combination of flavours works very well together. The most impressive part is the crispy enoki mushrooms.they are fried perfectly and very crunchy when paired with the truffle sauce and the other ingredients, the dish has a really nice balance and layers of flavour 🔺 Chicken Katsu Burger (23) The fried chicken burger was also very good the chicken was crispy on the outside while still juicy inside. It is served with fries on the side, and the portion is quite satisfying. 🔺 Lotus Chips (8) This dish may look simple at first, but it was surprisingly impressive. The lotus root chips are extremely crispy and the texture is very similar to potato chips. They are lightly seasoned with salt, which makes the flavour just right. It is also a great dish to share with friends 🔸 Overall Overall, Hazel looks like a low key café from the outside, but the food quality is actually very good. Everything we ordered was delicious and each dish had its own character. The dishes were very consistent and nothing disappointed. You can also tell that the kitchen puts real thought into balancing the flavours. The service was good and the staff were very friendly.
